Treasures of ÂPokkishamÂ

CheranÂs ÂPokkisham released today, and the team shared about the things they crafted for the movie to bring the feel of 1970s. Okay, now letÂs see the labors and efforts of the filmÂs team.
The team hired old buses and totally changed the exterior and seats to make them look like those old model buses. They worked almost day and night for 4 days to get them fixed! They wanted an old fashioned house for the heroÂs home. And they looked for it in areas like Mylapore where old fashioned houses are available, but the owners refused to give the house for shooting. Finally they found a house in Gopichettypalayam and recreated that old feel by replacing each and every article of the house and the look of the whole street.
Can you believe that the team got special permission to print those inland letters and acknowledgement cards which were available during 1970s? They also printed special series of the old model diaries, calendars, books, notes, posters, bus tickets, bread covers which were used in the film. Emblems of old dailies like Theekadhir and Janasakthi were got from their old office and duplicates of those news papers were prepared.
Not only the articles and places, even the look of the people needed a lot of homework. The Âkumkum that the heroine once uses is the original handmade one. The bangles of the heroine, Âdhupatti (long cloth used by Muslim ladies in Nagoor), hairstyle and the clothes of the hero and others in the film were all specially designed to suit that period.
Of course, the whole process must have cost a big deal of patience and money. LetÂs see if ÂPokkisham will be a true treasure for Tamil cinema.
